Service overview

What industrial installations actually involves.

What it is

Design and installation of industrial electrical systems — incoming supplies, distribution boards, sub-mains, motor and machinery circuits, control panel wiring and dedicated single-machine supplies.

Who it's for

Workshop owners, small-manufacturing operators, warehouse and light-industrial premises, plus commercial units across Crewe, Winsford, Middlewich and Sandbach.

When you need it

New machinery installation, unit fit-out or refit, DNO supply upgrade, or when an existing installation is no longer fit for the load being drawn.

Why a professional matters

Industrial electrical work has less margin for error than domestic — the earth fault loop impedance on a 32A three-phase motor circuit matters, and so does the sequence in which you commission a new sub-main. We do it in the right order, first time.

What's at stake

Left alone, small issues get expensive fast.

The reason to book proper work now — instead of putting it off — comes down to what happens when you don't.

Undersized supplies stalling growth

A single-phase 100A supply that was fine for a two-machine workshop won't run a compressor, CNC and dust extractor together. We handle DNO upgrade applications on your behalf.

Ad-hoc extensions to distribution boards

Years of "just one more circuit" leaves DBs with mixed vintage MCBs, no discrimination and tripping that takes down production.

Machinery installs with no coordination

New kit arriving before power is provisioned means the machine sits in the corner until an electrician can get to you. We schedule around delivery dates.

Our process

A clear system, start to finish.

  1. 01
    Site survey and load assessment

We measure existing loads, review your projected additions, and confirm whether the incoming supply and DB have headroom or need upgrading.

  2. 02
    Fixed written quote

Materials, labour, DNO liaison and Building Control notification all separated out. Where a DNO upgrade is needed we handle the application and cost separately, at cost.

  3. 03
    Scheduled around production

Isolation windows planned to the hour. Where continuous power matters we can install and pre-commission new distribution in parallel with the existing installation and cut over out-of-hours.

  4. 04
Installation to BS 7671 and machinery regs

SWA sub-mains, correctly sized DBs, RCD/RCBO protection where required, motor circuits with correct starting arrangements, and metal containment where the environment demands it.

  5. 05
    Full testing and certification

Insulation resistance, earth fault loop impedance, RCD trip times and phase rotation all recorded. Electrical Installation Certificate and any Minor Works Certificates issued on completion.

Why it matters

The outcome you actually get.

  • One point of contact for the whole installation

DNO application, containment, cabling, DB, testing and commissioning — one contractor accountable for the finished job.

  • Insurance-grade documentation

Certification, single-line diagrams and circuit schedules laid out so insurers, machinery manufacturers and Building Control accept them at first review.

  • Realistic downtime windows

We tell you the actual isolation time before the job starts. Not a range. Not a "we'll see". A time slot you can plan production around.

  • £10m employer's liability

Full public and employer's liability cover on every site visit — the documentation your health-and-safety file needs.

Detail matters

The specifics of how we do industrial installations.

Industrial electrical work is a different discipline from domestic. The circuits are heavier, the consequences of getting a calculation wrong are more expensive, and the site conditions — dust, moisture, vibration, chemical exposure — dictate half the specification. Twenty years in Cheshire's mixed light-industrial base means we specify what actually survives the environment, not just what passes an initial test.

Three-phase 400V distribution

New three-phase DBs, sub-mains from the incoming supply, tap-offs to individual machines, and discrimination calculated across the whole installation so a fault at one machine doesn't take out the shop floor. Where you're growing into a bigger supply we can install a new intake in parallel and cut over out-of-hours.

Motor circuits and starting arrangements

Direct-on-line, star-delta or soft-start selected against motor size and load characteristics. Cabling sized for starting current, not just running current. Isolators and emergency stops installed to the manufacturer's requirements and BS 7671 Section 537.

Containment appropriate to the environment

Galvanised tray and basket where accessibility matters, SWA where mechanical protection matters, steel conduit where impact resistance matters. We specify to the site, not to a template.

DNO liaison for supply upgrades

Where an existing single-phase supply won't carry the new load, we handle the DNO (Scottish Power Energy Networks or ENW depending on your postcode) application on your behalf, coordinate the meter change with your supplier, and schedule the internal works to land on the same day.

07886 780653
Do you handle DNO applications for supply upgrades?

Yes — we complete the application, agree the connection date with the DNO, coordinate the meter change with your electricity supplier, and schedule the internal works around it.

Can you work around production hours?

Yes. We routinely quote for evening and weekend isolation windows for critical installations where daytime downtime isn't practical.

Do you install control panels or just power?

We install the incoming power, distribution and machine feeds, and we work alongside panel builders and machinery installers where a bespoke control system is being commissioned.

Are you insured for industrial premises?

£10 million public liability, £10 million employer's liability and £5 million professional indemnity — cover appropriate for commercial and light industrial sites.

Do you provide certification for machinery/CE compliance?

We provide the BS 7671 Electrical Installation Certificate for the fixed installation. Machinery-side CE / UKCA documentation is the machinery manufacturer's responsibility — we coordinate the boundary with them.
